Banksy’s latest installation 'The Walled Off Hotel,' built along the West Bank barrier that puts a spotlight on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, will open a gift shop.
Accompanying the announcement of the shop are two newly unveiled art objects: a hand-painted mini souvenir inspired by the controversial barrier wall that divides Israel from the Palestinian territories with his 'Flying Balloon Girl' stencil and a military grade grappling hook made out of a crucifix.
Banksy will also be selling an art print, containing a real part of the separation wall, that shows the Israeli military watchtower as a carnival swing ride. Price-wise, all the works will be much, much cheaper than the usual six-figures his stuff goes for, and all proceeds stay in the local community.
It is incredibly rare for Banksy to put any of his stuff on sale. The last time he did so was in 2013 when he set up a small, anonymous pop-up stall in New York’s Central Park. We are pretty excited for this. What about you?
